Hello, thank you for visiting my site. My name is David Garcia and I have been studying the martial arts for the past 30 years. Training in the dojo not only had a positive impact on my childhood, but it also carried me into a career that included working seven years in private security, and a decade of experience working as a law enforcement officer for a state police agency. I was the Lieutenant over a Fugitive Apprehension Unit for the Law Enforcement Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office. I had the awesome job of running a specialized unit that conducted statewide manhunts on sex offenders and violent criminals. I recently left law enforcement after securing a great consulting contract, but I purposely chose an assignment that would allow me time to be on the dojo mats, on the firing range and in the shoot house. Being a professional operator is one of my greatest passions and I’d like to share the lessons I have learned from the martial art mats to my experience from tracking down fugitives on the streets. I believe my unique blend of law enforcement, private security and martial arts experience give me a unique platform from which to teach. I created GLADIUS – Real World Solutions with the aim of providing cutting edge information and training for beginners and professionals alike. For me, training has to be more than tactics that someone read in a book or thought up. Training has to provide real world solutions to real world problems. Keeping people safe is my mission, and I aim to provide you with the tools to operate more safely and effectively.
Credentials are important to some people, so here are a few of mine:
-Hold several black belts in traditional Japanese martial arts. I go to Japan each year to train directly under the masters and have been teaching in the US for 24 years
-Hold an Advanced Peace Officer license through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE)
-Hold TCLEOSE certified license as a certified Basic Instructor, Firearms Instructor and Active Shooter Instructor
-TCLEOSE certified for Defensive Tactics, OC Spray, Baton and Patrol Rifle
Texas Private Security Bureau certified Private Investigator
Texas Private Security Bureau certified Personal Protection Officer
-Certified in advanced Tactical Operations, Vehicle Operations, Tactical Carbine, Protective Detail, Interview and Interrogation, Handwriting Analysis, Intelligence Analysis and Critical Thinking
Some of my career highlights:
-My division was responsible for over 2500 felony arrests
-Located and arrested 5 Texas Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives
-Managed a Security Detail for members of MOSSAD and the Israeli National Police who participated in a week long conference in Austin, Texas
-Supervised the closure of over 20 cases of missing children as referred by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
-Trained Fugitive Apprehension personnel for two new regional offices in Houston and Fort Worth, Texas
-Participated in the Texas Youth Commission scandal investigation
-Was elected to the Board of Directors for the Trans-border International Police organization that liasoned between Federal, State and Local police from the United States and the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Coahuila and Chihuahua
-Conducted several US prosecuted Money Laundering investigations inside Mexican borders
-Assisted on Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force conducting surveillance and executing search / arrest warrants
-Assisted on Human Trafficking Task Force investigations participating in several undercover operations
-Assisted on several national and international fugitive cases with the US Marshals and Texas Department of Public Safety
-Assisted in several Texas Attorney General Operations dealing with child pornography, internet predators, public servant investigations, election fraud and prosecution assistance on a capital murder case
-Developed specialized operations for small unit tactics based on using multiples of 2 person units
-Trained and managed private security teams in Mexico for 4 years
-Trained in martial arts at Tokyo Metropolitan Police Dojo, Noma Dojo, Mitsubishi Dojo and Mori Dojo in Japan
